Hillary Clinton: ‘You have to be a little bit crazy to run for president’
Hillary Clinton said in an interview scheduled to air on Wednesday that she’d have to be a “little bit crazy” if she decides to run for the White House.
“You have to be a little bit crazy to run for president,” the presumptive 2016 Democratic presidential frontrunner said on “PBS NewsHour.”
“You have to be so totally immersed and so convinced that you can bring something to that office,” she added.
Clinton also rebuffed critics of her comments that she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were “dead broke” when they left the White House.
Clinton called her husband’s defense of those remarks “sweet,” but added, “I don’t need anybody to defend my record, I think my record speaks for itself.” She did, however, label her choice of words “unartful.”
Bill Clinton said in Denver on Tuesday that his wife’s original comments were “factually true,” adding that Hillary is “not out of touch.”
The Clintons are working to align messages amid the former secretary of State’s Hard Choices book tour and possible 2016 campaign for the White House.
