German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday predicted her country’s soccer team would beat Argentina on Sunday to win the 2014 World Cup.
“It certainly won’t be easy tomorrow; after the 7-1 everybody thinks ‘It’s almost done’ – that’s why we all need to cross our fingers again,” she told a local TV station.

Merkel and German President Joachim Gauck will travel to Brazil in the hopes of witnessing a victory.
Brazil will play the Netherlands on Saturday afternoon to determine who gets third place.
