Sarah Palin to guest-host ‘Today’ show Tuesday
{mosads}“How nervous should you all be?” Palin joked to the other regular “Today” show contributors in a live phone call on Monday’s show.
“What are you doing to prepare? Are you reading some newspapers?” Matt joked in return. The line is a reference to an interview Palin did in 2008 with Lauer’s former co-host, Katie Couric, widely considered one of Palin’s biggest gaffes as a vice presidential candidate.
“That’s a fine ‘How do you do?’ ” Palin returned, laughing. “Here we go.”
Couric asked Palin in the interview about the newspapers and magazines she regularly read to stay informed. Palin seemed to stumble over the question, but Couric stayed on the topic, asking several follow-up questions.
“All of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years,” Palin finally replied.
Intentional or not, Palin will face off with Couric in the ratings on Tuesday, when Couric begins her own guest-hosting stint on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
“Game on,” Palin said of the competition with Couric when asked by the Breitbart News Network over the weekend.
Palin also told Breitbart News that she sees the guest appearance as something of an undercover opportunity.
“We’re ‘going rogue’ and infiltrating some turf for a day,” Palin said.
“I really look forward to this,” Palin told the “Today” show gang on Monday. “I appreciate NBC’s boldness in having me on, and doesn’t it kind of reflect the diversity of opinion that I hear that you all espouse?”
