Nikki Haley ‘would not consider a Cabinet position’ in Romney administration

{mosads}Haley has repeatedly stated that she is not interested in pursuing any political position other than her current one as the governor of South Carolina, and reiterated that stance during the chat with supporters.

“I love being governor … and have no intention of leaving,” she said to one fan.

“I made a commitment to the people of South Carolina that I need to keep, so no, I would not accept,” she added when asked again about the potential VP nod.

Haley joned Sarah Palin and Herman Cain last week in telling Fox News that she thought Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) would be a “good” choice for vice president, but later eased back from her comments, saying she wasn’t “qualified” to recommend a nominee.

“First of all, I’m not recommending anybody; I don’t think I’m qualified to recommend anybody,” she said during an appearance at the American Enterprise Institute. “I think there’s going to be a slew of people and I mentioned that, you know, Allen West may come up.”

Haley also mentioned Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) as “great” choices for Romney’s vice president. Both names have repeatedly come up as likely for eventual consideration by any GOP nominee this year.
