#ThanksMichelleObama: Students lash out
Students across the country are once again taking to social media to tweet against first lady Michelle Obama’s nutritional regulations they claim are ruining their school lunches.
The hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama trended nationally as teenagers shared their disgust for unsavory Thanksgiving school lunches.

President Obama’s administration has implemented new standards for school lunches that limit calories, limit fat intake, among other requirements. The first lady has heavily campaigned for the new
policies, which she and other administration officials say are needed to help combat childhood obesity.
It’s not the first time that students have criticized and blamed the first lady for the school lunches. Earlier this year, she responded to the criticism in an interview with Channel One.
“Change is hard. But I know that I’m doing it because I’m giving my kids the best that I know I can give them,” she told Channel One in September. “Don’t be mad because there are changes. Figure out why the changes are important and then find out how you make it work for you.”
The tweets have sparked more media attention heading into the Thanksgiving week. BuzzFeed and CNN first reported the tweets.
