No decision yet in Ferguson, grand jury to reconvene Monday

A grand jury responsible for deciding whether to indict the police officer in the death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown will reconvene on Monday, according to multiple reports. 

Their decision was expected to be announced as early as this weekend, but sources told CNN and NBC News the grand jury will reconvene on Monday at the earliest.

The sources told NBC that police and fire units in Ferguson, Mo. have eased back on their alert status.

{mosads}Police were expected to begin working 12-hour shifts Saturday, but that will now begin on Sunday. 

School was canceled for students in the area Friday for all of next week, signaling that the decision could be imminent as Thanksgiving approaches.

Officials are working to prevent the same type of violence that brought Ferguson into the national spotlight when the fatal shooting happened in August. 

Officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown, a black teenager who was unarmed at the time on Aug. 9. 

The grand jury will decide whether to indict Wilson and bring this case to trial. 

President Obama urged Ferguson residents in an interview Friday to remain peaceful and not engage in violent protests.
