Incoming Texas governor to sue Obama
Texas Governor-elect Greg Abbott (R) on Sunday blasted President Obama’s executive orders on immigration, saying the action would encourage more immigrants to enter the U.S. illegally.
{mosads}Abbott joined other Republicans who have criticized Obama’s executive orders, which instruct authorities to only target deportation efforts to undocumented workers with criminal records.
The policies announced last week impact an estimated 5 million undocumented workers and allow for undocumented workers to apply for delayed deportation.
Abbott said on “Fox News Sunday” that he’s planning to sue Obama for the executive orders because of the impact it will have on the state of Texas.
“Whenever [President Obama] adamantly refuses to follow the law — that is the epitome of lawlessness,” Abbott said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“This presidential order will encourage more illegal immigration and cost Texans millions,” he added. “[President Obama is] rewriting the law as it exists.”
