Reid sports sunglasses at presser
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (R-Nev.) returned to the Senate on Tuesday with a new look — black sunglasses.
{mosads}Reid needed the shades to protect his eye after surgery to repair damage from an exercise accident. He fell while working out on New Year’s Day, breaking bones in his face and ribs. His injuries also threaten his sight, and an aide told The Hill that Reid’s most recent surgery aims to help him regain full vision in his right eye.
He led a press conference where Senate Democrats protested the Republicans’ Department of Homeland Security funding measure as a partisan measure that threatens the agency. Reid and his colleagues want a “clean” bill that funds the entire agency, but Republicans want to bar funding for implementing President Obama’s recent executive actions on immigration.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is currently seeking a stand-alone measure to block those executive actions.
