Elizabeth Warren to introduce Obama at Mass. fundraiser
{mosads}“Big news: @BarackObama will be in town tomorrow, and he’s asked me to introduce him at one of his events,” Warren tweeted on Sunday. “Time to work on my speech!”
President Obama has two campaign events scheduled on Monday in Boston, one at Hamersley’s Bistro and another at a private residence.
Warren is locked in a heated and expensive Senate contest with incumbent Scott Brown (R-Mass.), and the appearance with Obama could be a boost to her embattled campaign.
Obama is likely to win Massachusetts by a comfortable margin in November, while Warren has been on the defensive for weeks after reports surfaced that she claimed to be of Cherokee descent at two schools where she worked. Warren hasn’t produced documentation to prove the claim, but says her family had talked to her about her American Indian background.
Despite the controversy, Warren and Brown are tied in the polls.
Warren helped to shape the Obama administration’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but wasn’t tapped by the president to lead the group, as Republicans in Congress said they would block her nomination.
