Terror group threatens more attacks in Kenya
Somalia’s Islamic extremist group al-Shabab on Saturday warned Kenyans they plan to launch more deadly attacks throughout the country.
The threats come only two days after the assault on Garissa University College that left 148 people dead.
“Kenyan cities will run red with blood,” al-Shabab said according to the SITE intelligence monitoring group, The Associated Press reported.
{mosads}The extremist group said they attacked Garissa college in retaliation for Kenyan troops killing rebels they are fighting in Somalia.
“This will be a long, gruesome war of which you, the Kenyan public, are its first casualties,” according to a statement on Shabab-affiliated websites and Twitter accounts.
“No amount of precaution or safety measures will be able to guarantee your safety, thwart another attack or prevent another bloodbath,” the statement said.
Four of the alleged attackers were killed during the assault and their bodies were publicly displayed before a crowd of thousands in Garissa.
Two other suspects were arrested at the college and five more were taken into custody for their possible involvement in the attack, a Kenyan official said.
Meanwhile, a survivor of the college assault was coaxed out of her hiding place on Saturday by one of her teachers who said it was safe.
