RNC chairman slams Clinton strategy

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s (D) campaign strategy as she seeks the White House shows “people aren’t really buying the product of Hillary,” Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus said on Monday.

{mosads}”She’s got a 100 percent name ID,” Priebus said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” in an echo of comments he made on Sunday. “So she’s at pure saturation. And she’s losing in battleground states to many of our candidates who have name ID of like 30 percent. And what that actually tells you is it has a lot to do with the fact that people aren’t really buying the product of Hillary.”

“Their campaign knows it too,” he said. “That’s why they decided to launch a campaign this way. They have really no big events, no press gaggles, no stops on this great minivan tour from New York to Iowa.”

“It’s not a brilliant strategy, guys. It’s really the only strategy.”

Clinton’s campaign, in an effort to avoid problems that plagued her 2008 White House bid, is focusing on small events that put their candidate face-to-face with voters in crucial states. She will reportedly hold a formal campaign kickoff event next month.

In the meantime, she is driving with aides to Iowa and tweeting about her trip.

She launched her long-expected run on Sunday afternoon with a slick video and a new campaign website. She is the third presidential candidate to declare — following Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — and the only Democrat to enter the race so far.
