VIDEO: Man lands gyrocopter at Capitol
The Associated Press has obtained video of Florida postal worker Doug Hughes landing a gyrocopter — a very small aircraft — on the West Lawn on the Capitol.
In the video, a crowd is seen watching the aircraft land while at least one bystander expresses alarm.
{mosads}According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times, Hughes planned to land the craft on the Capitol grounds as a protest in support of campaign finance reform.
Police officers swarmed the aircraft and took the pilot into custody. The U.S. Capitol Police said its bomb squad found nothing hazardous on board. Charges are pending against the pilot.
