Police van carrying Gray made undisclosed stop

The police transport van ferrying Freddie Gray made an additional, previously unreported stop during his transfer, Baltimore Deputy Commissioner Kevin Davis said Thursday.

{mosads}The stop was at an unspecified location between Gray’s arrest and the department’s Western District building, CNN reported.

Baltimore police gleaned the new fact from a report generated by a task force investigating the incident.

Gray, 25, died while in police custody in an incident that sparked riots this week in Baltimore. He reportedly suffered a severed spine while in custody.

“I wanted a sense of urgency on this case to get the results out there,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts told The New York Times.

The Times added that Baltimore’s state attorney, Marilyn J. Mosby, would receive their findings Friday.

She will next decide whether or not any Baltimore police officers will face criminal charges over Gray’s death.

A second prisoner in the same transport van as Gray alleged on Thursday that Gray was “intentionally trying to injure himself.”

An attorney representing Gray’s family has cast doubt on that theory, arguing Gray did not sever his own spine.
