Baltimore curfew lifted
Baltimore’s mayor on Sunday lifted a nightly curfew in place since riots tore through the city last week.
In a tweet, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake thanked residents for their “patience.”
Effective immediately, I have rescinded my order instituting a city-wide curfew.
I want to thank the people of Baltimore for their patience.

Rawlings-Blake said on Sunday that the rioters in her city would face justice.
“I don’t condone it and I will make sure those individuals are held accountable,” she told host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Riots erupted in Baltimore last Monday after the funeral for Freddie Gray, a young black man who suffered a fatal injury while in police custody. The city had since had a nightly curfew lasting from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby on Friday charged six police officers with criminal charges related to Gray’s death.
The Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police has vowed the six officers charged will be vindicated of any wrongdoing.
The decision to lift the curfew followed a demonstration termed a “victory rally” by organizers on Saturday to mark charges against the officers.
Marchers carried homemade signs, according to media reports, and many wore T-shirts emblazoned with “Black Lives Matter.”
Demonstrators chanted “no justice, no peace, no racist police” during Saturday’s march.
