Carly Fiorina buys SethMeyers.org
Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina (R) poked fun at her campaign’s recent website mix-up on NBC’s “The Late Show with Seth Meyers” on Tuesday, revealing to the host that she bought a domain featuring his name.
“Do you know who owns SethMeyers.org?” she asked Meyers.
“I do. I just bought it in the green room actually. So you better be really nice to me tonight.”
SethMeyers.org currently redirects to the website for Fiorina’s presidential campaign, which she announced on Monday.
{mosads}After she entered the race for the White House, it became apparent that Fiorina’s campaign hadn’t bought the domain CarlyFiorina.org, which hosts a page critical of her tenure as CEO of the technology company Hewlett Packard.
“Carly Fiorina failed to register this domain. So I’m using it to tell you how many people she laid off at Hewlett-Packard,” the page reads, followed by 30,000 sad-face emotions that it says represents one person that lost their job.
The Hill later reported that an employee at the Service Employees International Union, which regularly donates to the Democratic Party, created the website. He told The Hill that he made the site entirely on his own time with his own resources late last year and that it had nothing to do with his employer.
Democrats, including Democratic National Committee member Mo Elleithee, tweeted out the link to needle Fiorina as she announced her bid.
Leslie Shedd, press secretary for the super PAC Carly for America, said that the site shows that Democrats have been “worried about Hillary Clinton’s most effective critic since last year.”
