Westboro Baptist Church protests outside Beau Biden’s funeral

Three members of the Westboro Baptist Church protested the funeral of Beau Biden, the vice president’s son, on Saturday, according to USA Today.

One man was arrested for throwing coffee at the protestors, the report said.

The three members of the Topeka, Kan.-based church were seen picketing outside St. Anthony of Padua church in Wilmington, Del., where at least 1,000 people attended a service for Beau Biden.

{mosads}Beau Biden died a week ago at 46 after a battle with brain cancer.

“America is doomed,” read one sign held by the Westboro Baptist Church protestors.

They also sang anti-gay songs for about an hour Saturday morning, the report said.

Another group of nearly 100 people counter-protested the Westboro Baptist Church’s presence outside the funeral service. They sang “Amazing Grace” and held American flags.

On Friday, the Westboro Baptist Church announced it would picket Biden’s funeral.

“As for Beau Biden, his life was cut short by the will of God to whom all glory is given and he has an eternity of answering to the Lord for his own words, thoughts, actions and sins,” the protest announcement said.

The church is known for hate speech against gay people and Jews and has long picketed outside military funerals.
