Biden to give first speech since son’s death

Vice President Biden on Tuesday will give his first public speech since the death of his son, Beau Biden.

The vice president will deliver remarks at a clean energy investment summit in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House.

{mosads}Biden has worked in Washington intermittently since his son died on May 30, taking time to be with his family in his hometown of Wilmington, Del.

He returned to the nation’s capital last week for the first time following his son’s funeral for a pair of meetings with leaders from Ukraine and Iraq.

President Obama eulogized Beau Biden at his funeral on June 6 in Wilmington, which was attended by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. The 46-year-old former Delaware attorney general died after a two-year battle with brain cancer.

Joe Biden returned to Washington once between his son’s passing and his funeral to attend his granddaughter’s middle school graduation.

The White House event Tuesday will showcase private-sector investments to fight climate change and develop low-carbon emission energy sources.
