The gunman who killed four Marines at two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Tuesday reportedly kept a blog briefly to chronicle religious thoughts.
Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez’s blog had only two posts, both dated July 13, according to the Daily Beast. In the first, he wrote that life is a test “designed to separate the inhabitants of Paradise from the inhabitants of Hellfire.”
{mosads}”I would imagine that any sane person would devote their time to mastering the information on the study guide and stay patient with their studies, only giving time for the other things around to keep themselves focused on passing the exam,” the blog post reads. “They would do this because they know and have been told that they will be rewarded with pleasures that they have never seen.”
In the second, he writes that Muslims’ understanding of the companions of Prophet Mohammad is similar to how blind men can feel an elephant but still not understand what it is.
The blog post said that at least some Muslims “keep a tunnel vision of what we think Islam is.”
Hours after the gunman opened fire in Chattanooga, the FBI confirmed the identity of the shooter as 24-year-old Abdulazeez, reportedly a naturalized citizen from Kuwait.
“While it would be premature to speculate on the motives of the shooter at this time, we will conduct a thorough investigation of this tragedy and provide updates as they are available,” the FBI said in a statement.
