Thune touts productivity of GOP-led Congress
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) on Saturday touted the successes of Republicans since they took control of both chambers of Congress early this year.
“Eight months into the Republican-led Congress, we’ve changed the way Washington operates,” Thune said in the GOP weekly address.
{mosads}“We’ve brought Democrats and Republicans together to solve the challenges facing America’s families, and we’ve been able to put forward real solutions as a result,” he said.
“In all, we‘ve passed more than 80 bills to grow our economy, protect our nation’s citizens, strengthen our security and reform government,” Thune added.
The Republican mentioned lawmakers passing a balanced budget resolution this year and legislation on trade, transportation and education reform, among others.
When lawmakers return to Washington on Sept. 8 after a five-week recess, a vote on the international deal over Iran’s nuclear program will be atop a crowded schedule.
