Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel spoofed GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vague policy positions on Thursday with a parody ad.
“Donald Trump has a plan for making the country great again,” the ad said on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” riffing on Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan.
{mosads}“What plan?” it then asked. “A great plan. A plan that will work because it is the best.”
The faux ad then pokes fun at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, one of Trump’s bitter rivals in the race for next year’s GOP presidential nomination.
“[Trump knows] the best people,” it said, showing Trump with actor Gary Busey.
“People who aren’t stupid, like other people,” it added, showing a clip of Bush raising his eyebrows and looking perplexed.
Kimmel’s spot closes by poking fun at Trump’s repeated boasts over his wealth while on the campaign trail.
“I’m Donald Trump and of course I approve this message, because it’s a great message and I have lots of money to pay for it,” a voiceover said.
Trump is leading polls in the race for the GOP nomination.
The latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls has him leading retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, his closest competition, by over 13 points.
“The strangest thing about the Trump campaign being on top for a full month now is that apart from his plan to build a wall to keep the Mexicans out, we know absolutely nothing about what he is planning to do as president,” Kimmel said in his introduction to the farcical video.
“You know, ordinarily people running for president tell us what they will do if they win, but Donald Trump, as you’ll see here, has a much broader approach,” he added.
