Reid: I may be permanently blind in right eye
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) may be permanently blind in his right eye, he told CNN on Tuesday.
Reid, who injured his eye while exercising on New Year’s Day, said he will “probably not” ever have use of his right eye again.
{mosads}”You know in life, you don’t always get what you want,” he told CNN. “And I wish I hadn’t hurt myself.”
The Nevada Democrat noted that experimental surgery exists that may one day help him, but “we’re not there yet.”
Reid broke bones in his face and ribcage when he fell after an exercise resistance band snapped.
“I’m sorry I hurt myself doing something that I’ve been doing for years. But it’s affected my stability. I’m getting better,” the senator said. “I’ve been doing exercises for that.
“I can read now. Don’t read nearly as fast as I used to. I had world-class speed-reading ability. I don’t have that anymore. But I’m doing just fine.”
