Alec Baldwin rips Clinton, Trump’s ‘bulls— warmongering’

Actor Alec Baldwin said late Wednesday that no candidate in the 2016 presidential race is giving global peace a chance.

“Every single person, Democrat or Republican — you never hear them talk about peace,” he said during the Clio Awards in New York, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

{mosads}“[It is] like peace is a naive idea,” Baldwin said. “They’re all bullshit warmongering — every one of them — Hillary [Clinton], [Donald] Trump, every one of them.

“And that’s tragic,” the performer added. “That’s the biggest tragedy of the race.”

Baldwin predicted on Wednesday evening that Trump would particularly struggle with voter enthusiasm in the coming months.

“I doubt [public support] will go to Trump,” Baldwin said.

“I think that Trump’s a person who has been a very successful man in some ways, but whether that translates into authoring or shepherding … whether that translates with Trump’s skills, I don’t know,” he added.

Baldwin also charged that Trump’s business background might not provide the guidance that the nation needs.

“The government certainly needs to be run in a more business-like fashion, but you can never run the government like a business,” he said.

“Businesses are for-profit,” the “30 Rock” star added. “The government is to be run for the good of most people. You don’t see that happening now.”

Baldwin additionally said on Wednesday that the crowded 2016 field would eventually wear itself down.

“I don’t take any of it seriously now,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of people in the game, and it’s all going to change after the first year [of campaigning] so we’ll see what happens.

“Between now and spring is an eternity — a lot of people will drop out.”
