Murdoch apologizes for ‘real black president’ tweet

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch on Thursday apologized for a message on Twitter that implied President Obama wasn’t a “real black president.”

The CEO of News Corporation on Thursday said he meant no offense with the tweet, which was about GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson.

{mosads}“Apologies!” Murdoch tweeted on Thursday. “No offence meant. Personally find both men charming.”

A day earlier, he had tweeted: “Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black president who can properly address the racial divide? And much else.”

He then called on his Twitter followers to read a New York Magazine article titled “The Paradox of the First Black President.”

“Read New York Magazine for minority community disappointment with POTUS,” Murdoch tweeted.

Murdoch has repeatedly praised Carson’s promise as a Republican White House hopeful during the 2016 election cycle thus far.

“Everywhere pundits keep underestimating Ben Carson,” he tweeted on Oct. 2.  

“But public understand humility as admirable, listen to the multi-faceted strong message.”
