Suspected shooter’s brother-in-law plans to adopt daughter
A brother-in-law of one of the suspected San Bernardino shooters says he plans to adopt the daughter the alleged assailants left behind.
Farhan Khan said on Friday he has instructed his lawyers to start the adoption process for the six-month-old orphan.
{mosads}“You left your six-month-old daughter in this life,” a frustrated Khan told NBC News. “Some people cannot have kids. God gave you a gift of a daughter. And you left that kid behind.”
“What — what did you achieve?” he added. “I don’t know what message they left.”
Syed Rizwan Farook and Fashfeen Malik, a married couple, are suspected of storming an office in San Bernardino, Calif., and killing 14 people on Wednesday.
The couple left their daughter with her grandparents that day and were eventually killed in a shoot-out with police.
Khan, who is married to the sister of Farook, said he was “very angry” and “upset” at his brother-in-law for his alleged actions.
Authorities said Malik pledged her support to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria in a Facebook post during the attack.
The FBI is investigating the shooting as an “act of terrorism.”
