Poll: More see terrorism as America’s top problem
Americans polled by Gallup see terrorism as the nation’s greatest problem, according to a new poll.
Sixteen percent pick terrorism as the top problem in the Gallup survey, compared to just 3 percent who picked terrorism as the top problem in November 2014.
{mosads}It’s the highest percentage that named terrorism as the nation’s No. 1 problem in a decade, though it is much lower than the 46 percent who named terrorism after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
About 13 percent pick government as the biggest issue, while 9 percent say the economy is.
Another 7 percent say guns are the greatest concern — a 4-point increase from 3 percent in November.
Fewer Americans are now worried about either the economy or the government.
The number of U.S. adults saying the government is the greatest issue, for example, is down 8 points, from 17 percent in November. The percentage of Americans who pick the economy, meanwhile, is 2 points lower, from 15 percent last month.
Gallup conducted its latest sampling of 824 adults ages 18 years and older via telephone interviews Dec. 2-6. It has a 4 percent margin of error.
