Billy Graham’s son quits GOP over spending bill

The son of minister Billy Graham says he is leaving the Republican Party over the $1.1 trillion government-funding bill that passed last week.

Evangelist Franklin Graham in a Facebook post on Monday declared himself an independent.

{mosads}“Shame on the Republicans and the Democrats for passing such a wasteful spending bill last week,” he said in the post.

“This is an example of why I have resigned from the Republican Party and declared myself an Independent,” he added. “I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or the Tea Party to do what is best for America.”

Graham criticized the legislation for appropriating taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, which performs abortions.

“There’s no question – taxpayers should not be paying for abortions!” he said

“Seeing and hearing Planned Parenthood talk nonchalantly about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses with utter disregard for human life is reminiscent of Joseph Mengele and the Nazi concentration camps,” he added, pointing to a series of undercover videos that purport to show the organization profiting from the sale of fetal body parts.

Graham, who followed his famous father into the ministry, has announced a campaign to hold prayer rallies in every state capital in the nation.
