Gunman killed after shots fired in Charlotte mall

A police officer killed a gunman Thursday after shots were fired at a mall in Charlotte, N.C.
 
The Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police department reportedly said an argument between two groups of people began in the mall, which led to off-duty officers arriving at the scene.
 
One person involved in the altercation — who was armed — was shot by an off-duty officer, and pronounced dead on the scene.
 

 
{mosads}The manager of Journeys, a shoe store in the mall, told CNN the shooting stemmed from an altercation in which a group of people “ganged up” on a man.
 
One person was reportedly shot in the ensuing fight. It is not clear how badly he was wounded.
 
A witness told WBTV he heard arguing before the shots went off.
 
Medical and SWAT were dispatched to the shopping complex. The FBI was also on the scene.
 
Police have not disclosed how many people were injured or whether anyone was killed.
 
Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency (MEDIC) told NBC Charlotte it is treating one patient with a leg injury, one patient with an asthma attack and one patient who is in labor.
 
MEDIC also told Fox 46 Charlotte that one person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
The stores were crowded, as shoppers rushed to complete last-minute Christmas shopping.
