Drivers in Reid motorcade cited in car crash that sent majority leader to hospital

{mosads}Some six vehicles were involved the the pileup, four of which were members of Reid’s caravan. The crash occurred last Friday afternoon, and the 72-year-old lawmaker was rushed to the University Medical Center emergency room for examination.

According to Reid’s office, the senator experienced “rib and hip contusions” but was otherwise unharmed.

“Senator Reid was taken to University Medical Center Hospital by his security detail as a precaution, and walked in on his own. Senator Reid was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He experienced rib and hip contusions and has been cleared for release by the doctors,” Reid’s office said in a statement.

Other members of Reid’s staff and security detail reportedly sustained minor injuries.
