Fields on defamation lawsuit: ‘I’m not going to rule it out’

Former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields said she’s considering filing a defamation lawsuit against GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign manager or the Trump campaign.

“I’m not going to rule it out. Do I think that they defamed me? Absolutely,” she said on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday.

“Weeks later, Donald Trump says that the Secret Service said that I was grabbing at him.”

She said she thinks the Trump campaign was “trying to defame me, and I think it shows malice.”

Authorities last week formally declined to prosecute Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager, on a criminal charge of simple battery after he was accused of grabbing Fields during a campaign event.

Fields said Sunday she doesn’t agree with the decision.

Lewandowski on Sunday dodged a question about whether he’d be willing to apologize to Fields.

“To apologize to someone I’ve never spoken to … is a little unrealistic right now,” Lewandowski said in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

Fields said Sunday she doesn’t think what happened between her and Lewandowski should have been “such a huge story,” and it wouldn’t have blown up if she had received an apology.

“If I had just received an apology, as I was told I was going to receive, which is why I was quiet the first two days,” she said.

“This wouldn’t have been such a huge story. The reason why it’s such a huge story is because Corey lied.  Donald Trump lied. They defamed me. And they went on this huge smear campaign against me.”
