Former President George H.W. Bush released from hospital after sickness

Former President George. H. W. Bush was released from the hospital on Monday but will continue physical therapy at home.

{mosads}Bush had been receiving treatment at Methodist Hospital in Houston for a persistent cough and bacterial infection and had been receiving treatment since Thanksgiving.

“Mr. Bush has improved to the point that he will not need any special medication when he goes home, but he will continue physical therapy,” Methodist Hospital’s Dr. Amy Mynderse said in a statement.

{mosads}The release on Monday follows a gradual improvement in the former president’s condition. In late December he was moved out of the hospital’s intensive care unit.

“I am deeply grateful for the wonderful doctors and nurses at Methodist who took such good care of me,” Bush said in a statement.

“Let me add just how touched we were by the many get-well messages we received from our friends and fellow Americans. Your prayers and good wishes helped more than you know, and as I head home my only concern is that I will not be able to thank each of you for your kind words.”
