Panama to transfer Cuban migrants to Mexico
Panama has reached a deal to transfer nearly 4,000 stranded Cubans to Mexico, AFP reported Sunday.
The U.S.-bound Cubans have been stranded in Panama since March after risking the trip through South and Central America to avoid being sent home if discovered crossing by sea into Florida.
{mosads}”Panama will transfer some 3,800 Cubans to Mexico after an agreement with that country,” a Panamanian official told AFP, ahead of the official announcement slated for Monday.
The official said daily flights would begin Monday from Panama City to Juárez, Mexico. Each plane would carry 154 Cubans, who would pay the cost of the trip themselves.
