Eric Trump compares Trump University to Harvard
Eric Trump, the son of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, on Thursday drew a comparison between Harvard University and Trump University while pushing back on criticism of his father’s now-defunct real estate education program.
He said some former students who have filed lawsuits accusing the program of fraud may be feeling “buyer’s remorse” but argued that such complaints aren’t unique to Trump University.
{mosads}”There’s probably people that go to Harvard and say, ‘Listen, I went to Harvard, I got a great education and I can’t find a job or I didn’t become the success that I could have been,” Eric Trump said on Fox’s “America’s Newsroom.”
“Sure, I mean, you probably have that at every major university,” he added.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton slammed Donald Trump this week for his controversial program, calling it a “fraudulent scheme,” a phrase used by a former Trump University sales manager.
The sales manager said in testimony revealed Tuesday that Trump University “preyed upon the elderly and uneducated to separate them from their money.”
Trump University is facing lawsuits in California and New York. But the presumptive GOP nominee has defended the program while campaigning for a likely match-up against Clinton in the fall.
“Trump University had a 98 percent approval rating, and I think that wins the day,” Eric Trump said on Fox.
A New York Times investigation in March found that some students were pressured to offer positive reviews.
