Grand jury to investigate Orlando shooter’s wife: report

The wife of the Orlando nightclub shooter could be charged as an accessory to 49 counts of murder and 53 counts of attempted murder after failing to notify authorities about her husband’s plans to carry out an attack, FoxNews.com reported Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors have convened a grand jury to look into the wife of Omar Mateen, according to Fox.

{mosads}Other charges Noor Salman may face include not telling law enforcement about the pending terrorist attack and lying to federal agents.

The wife of the suspected shooter reportedly knew of the pending attack, according to a federal law enforcement source. Salman said her husband told her about his plans to carry out the attack, but she did not take steps to prevent it.

The suspected shooter may have called his wife from Pulse, a gay nightclub, while carrying out the attack, a source told Fox.

Salman also knew about the guns Mateen bought before carrying out the attack.

Salman will likely be arrested, but she is reportedly cooperating with investigators, according to CBS News.

The only proof of the couple’s marriage is a 2013 mortgage document and family members who said they were married and had a child.

The nightclub attack was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Mateen died in a shootout with police in the club.

Reports surfaced that Mateen had visited the nightclub several times before carrying out the attack and that his wife may have driven him to club once.
