New super-PAC to target Trump but steer clear of Clinton
A new super-PAC is taking aim at Americans who are disenchanted with both major parties’ nominees in its effort to stop Donald Trump from reaching the White House.
The group, Keep America Great, has a primary focus of defeating Trump, but it’s not promoting presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, CNN reported.
{mosads}The new super-PAC is hoping to attract supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and Republicans who are not backing Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, but don’t want to be associated with an organization specifically supporting Clinton.
The group plans to run television ads and a digital campaign, according to CNN.
“Our mission over the next five months is to help ensure that everyone is aware of Mr. Trump’s long record of distortions, lies and even fraud,” said Jon Cooper, the chairman of the super PAC.
Cooper was also a leader of the effort to get Vice President Biden to enter the presidential race.
“His recent racist attacks against a respected federal judge, his fervent support of assault weapons even after the mass murder in Orlando, his mocking of people with disabilities — these all provide a window into his heart and soul. And that should give all fair-minded Americans pause,” Cooper said.
Cooper is working with other campaign veterans to stop Trump from getting to the White House.
“For the sake of the nation we all love,” Cooper said, “it is imperative that we stop Donald Trump from becoming president.”
