Trump’s ousted political director hired by RNC

A former aide to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, who was ousted late last month after a short stint at the campaign, is now working for the Republican National Committee.

Rick Wiley served as Trump’s national political director for about six weeks before being dismissed from the campaign.

RNC chief strategist Sean Spicer confirmed Wiley had joined the RNC.

“Rick has been hired as a consultant by the RNC in consultation and agreement with the Trump campaign,” Spicer said.

Even after being ousted from the campaign, Wiley said in an interview late last month he sees Trump winning the presidential election.

“The path exists,” Wiley told Bloomberg Politics. “I firmly believe this guy’s going to win.”

Wiley did not explain why he was fired from the Trump campaign, though he said last month that the electoral map is “devastating” for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He noted Trump’s message resonates with voters.

Four years ago, Wiley served as the party’s national political director, where he worked with 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign. The operative also worked as a campaign manager for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) before the governor dropped his presidential bid.
