Anderson Cooper fires back at Florida AG after heated interview

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is firing back against claims from Florida’s attorney general that the network aired a shortened version of a heated interview.

{mosads}On Tuesday, CNN aired an interview between Cooper and Pam Bondi about the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando over the weekend. Cooper pressed Bondi on her past statements opposing gay marriage and overall attitude toward the LGBT community.

The day after the tense interview, Bondi claimed that CNN cut out part of the interview in which they talked about fundraising efforts for victims and their families and how to avoid scam charities and fundraisers.

She said she was “extremely disappointed” in the tone of the interview.

“The interview was supposed to be about helping victims’ families, not creating more anger and havoc and hatred,” she said.

In a response video posted Wednesday, Cooper denied that any part of the interview was cut.

“She’s either mistaken or she’s not telling the truth,” Cooper said.

Cooper recounted that they had talked about fundraising efforts briefly before the interview began and pointed out that it aired live.

“Let’s be real here, Ms. Bondi’s big complaint seems to be that I asked in the first place in the wake of a massacre that targeted gay and lesbian citizens about her new statements about the gay community and about her old ones,” Cooper said.
