Giffords wins John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage award
{mosads}The JFK Library and Museum made the announcement on Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Two years ago Giffords was shot in the head during a shooting rampage in Tucson, Ariz. She survived the shooting and since then has become one of the most high-profile proponents of addressing the country’s gun laws.
Giffords was selected for the award for the “political, personal, and physical courage she has demonstrated in her fearless public advocacy for policy reforms aimed at reducing gun violence.”
Caroline Kennedy, former President John F. Kennedy’s daughter, will give the award on May 5, The Associated Press also reported.
