Clinton spending heavily on Olympics ads
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is spending heavily during the Rio Olympics this month, while GOP nominee Donald Trump so far isn’t competing.
Clinton is airing $13.6 million in campaign ads during the summer games in Brazil, The Associated Press reports, as she seeks to reach millions of viewers.

Clinton is spending $8 million over the first three weeks of August with NBC, which is carrying the Olympic events from Rio de Janeiro, and $4.5 million on local network affiliates, the AP reported based on an analysis of Kantar Media market research data. Her campaign is also spending $1.1 million on NBC’s cable channels Bravo, USA and MSNBC, the AP found.
Clinton’s campaign has also taken to social media to tap into excitement surrounding the games, tweeting on Monday to congratulate U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky for winning gold:
Last night, swimmer @KatieLedecky won gold and broke her own world record in the 400m freestyle. Congrats, Katie! pic.twitter.com/db79swBbOr
