The New York Daily News is calling for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to end his campaign.
The publication’s front-page editorial Wednesday cited Trump’s remarks the previous day that “Second Amendment people” could stop Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
{mosads}If Trump refuses to end his campaign, the newspaper’s editorial board called for the GOP and his running mate, Mike Pence, to “abandon Trump for toying with political bloodshed.”
“Trump hurtled past offensiveness into dangerous recklessness on Tuesday by suggesting violence as a means to prevent Clinton from nominating U.S. Supreme Court justices,” they wrote.
The Daily News, which endorsed Clinton in April, has long feuded with the outspoken Republican candidate, repeatedly depicting him as a clown.
In February, the publication’s cover offered an image of Trump in clown face paint with text declaring his win in the New Hampshire GOP primary as the “dawn of the brain dead.”
Trump has mostly dismissed the barbs from the New York paper and speculated earlier this year that he could win his home state.
