Kaine laughs off reputation as ‘America’s stepdad’ on Colbert

Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, said Thursday night he was fully prepared to step into the national spotlight with a dad-like reputation. 

{mosads}In an appearance on CBS’s “Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, the host presented the VP candidate with headlines and tweets dubbing him “America’s stepdad.”

“Tim Kaine will be driving you TO and FROM the prom, mister,” read one tweet from playwright Mara Wilson. 

Colbert asked Kaine if he was “OK not being cool.”

“I’ve been preparing for that for 26 years because I have three children who have been ripping on me and saying those things about me since they were born,” Kaine responded.
