Pence offers Cruz ‘heartfelt thanks’ for Trump endorsement

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence praised Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) for his recent endorsement of GOP nominee Donald Trump in an appearance before conservative leaders Saturday.

Ted Cruz, endorsed Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, and he has our heartfelt thanks,” Pence said at Saturday’s Faith and Freedom Coalition dinner, according to reports from the scene.

Pence said that Cruz’s Facebook endorsement of Trump was “eloquently” written.

Cruz finally endorsed Trump on Friday, saying that despite their disagreements and bitter fight during the Republican presidential primaries, they are in line on a number of major issues. 

Trump said in a statement shortly after that he is “greatly honored” to have the Texas senator’s support.
