Former Donald Trump campaign manager defended the GOP nominee after 2005 audio surfaced of Trump making lewd comments about women.
{mosads}”Clearly this is not how women should be spoken about, but you know, we’re not choosing a Sunday school teacher here,” Corey Lewandowski said in a phone interview with CNN Friday. “This is 12 years ago this audio tape, it does not reflect or bring to mind the Donald Trump that I’ve spent 18 months with traveling. I’ve never heard anything like this out of him and so let me say, we are appointing a leader, we are electing a leader to the free world, we’re not electing a Sunday school teacher.”
The Washington Post published audio of Trump and Billy Bush, an Access Hollywood host at the time, talking privately on a bus.
Trump recounts his failed attempt to seduce a woman — “I moved on her like a b—h, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married” — and says that “when you’re a star,” women let you do anything, including “grab them by the p—y.”
Trump quickly released a statement about the audio.
