Top female Trump surrogate: His remarks about women were ‘foul’

A top Donald Trump surrogate defended the GOP nominee for his degrading remarks toward women that surfaced Friday, but she said the comments were “appalling.”

{mosads}”These words are horrible, they’re dreadful, they’re appalling, they’re foul,” Scottie Nell Hughes told CNN Friday. “But I will say this: The words of Donald Trump for 11 years ago are bad, but they’re not near as bad as the actions of Hillary Clinton since she’s been in office.”

Hughes started to flip to the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya that happened during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of State, but anchor Erin Burnett cut her off, asking if Trump’s comments had changed anything for Hughes personally.

“What this did to me personally, it proved to me Mr. Trump has not always wanted to run for office, his entire life has not been to get elected and say things to pander to people to get elected,” she responded.

Trump faced strong backlash after the Washington Post published 2005 footage of Trump making lewd remarks about women in a private conversation.
