3 police officers shot in Calif.
Two police officers were killed and one was injured in a shooting in Palm Springs, Calif., The Desert Sun reported.
{mosads}Police appeared to have cornered the suspected shooter in a home Saturday evening after a manhunt.
The officers had been called to a domestic disturbance and were waiting at the door of the home when the shots began, Palm Springs Police Chief Bryan Reyes said at a news conference.
“Today Palm Springs lost two brave officers,” Reyes said. “I am awake in a nightmare right now.”
The two slain officers were identified as Lesley Zerebny and Jose Gilbert “Gil” Vega. Reyes said Zerebny was a mother of a 4-month-old, and Vega was a 35-year veteran about to retire.
The condition of the third officer was unclear.
