Weiner checks into sex addiction clinic: Daily Mail
Former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) has checked into a rehab facility for sex addiction, The Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
Weiner is in the treatment center after allegedly exchanging sexually suggestive messages with a 15-year-old girl.
{mosads}The facility’s program, where Weiner is reportedly staying, includes counseling for those addicted to cyber sex and exhibitionism. Patients can additionally receive help for addictions to anonymous sex and pornography, The Daily Mail said. The center separates men and women.
The Daily Mail did not disclose the name or location of the rehab center, which prohibits electronic devices.
Weiner’s sexual misconduct re-entered the spotlight last week after an FBI investigation into his sexting reportedly unearthed emails potentially related to the FBI probe into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of State. Weiner’s estranged wife is longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
The Daily Mail first reported Weiner had allegedly exchanged lurid messages with an underage teenage girl in late September.
Weiner, 51, sent multiple bare-chested photos to the girl, commented on her body and discussed sexual acts with her, according to saved messages given by her father.
The former lawmaker purportedly began his relationship with the girl last January, while she was a high school sophomore.
Abedin announced she was separating from Weiner in August over another sexting controversy.
Weiner’s political career collapsed after the first of several sexting scandals engulfed him in 2011.
