Donald Trump’s ex-wife says she wants to become the president-elect’s envoy to the Czech Republic.
“I will suggest that I be ambassador for the Czech Republic,” Ivana Trump told the New York Post in an interview published Sunday. “[That] is where I’m from and my language and everybody knows me. I’m quite known all around the world.
“Not only in America. I have written three books, and they were translated in 40 countries in 25 languages. I’m known by the name Ivana. I really did not need the name Trump.”
Speculation is running rampant over the makeup of Donald Trump’s future administration after his election last Tuesday.
Trump campaigned as a change agent capable of disrupting Washington’s political establishment and returning power to voters. On Sunday, he named Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus as his chief of staff, and said campaign CEO Stephen Bannon will be chief strategist and senior counselor to the president.
The Republican on Friday appointed Vice President-elect Mike Pence as head of his transition team.
Pence, who is also the GOP governor of Indiana, leads a stable of Donald Trump’s top surrogates including Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).
Ivana Trump in Sunday’s interview predicted her former husband would not totally abandon his New York City residence for the White House.
“I don’t think he will ever give up [his apartment] at the Trump Tower,” she said. “I know it is probably inconvenient for the residents, but he is going to work it out. To be perfectly honest, I think probably the Trump Tower and my town house in New York is much better than the White House.
“But Donald is very right. He said if a lot of presidents can live in here, so can [he]. I don’t think he’s going to do gold leafing in the White House.”
Ivana Trump added Donald Trump would dislike the travel demands of the presidency.
“Donald is like a good French wine,” she said. “He doesn’t like to be moved and traveled. The last 18 months, he traveled as much as he ever has in his life.
“Thank God he has his private plane, but still, it was brutal. It’s not going to get any better; it will get worse in the White House.”
