Manchin confident spy programs protect civil liberties

Carl Levin (D-Mich.), the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told reporters the Obama administration was in the process of preparing a public information release that would attempt to address many of the privacy concerns that have been raised about the domestic programs.
National security and intelligence officials have been conducting a series of public and private briefings over the last two weeks after lawmakers criticized the NSA’s programs as lacking sufficient oversight.
