A strong earthquake hit off the coast of Central America Thursday, but there have been no immediate reports of damage.
{mosads}Emergency services in El Salvador urged those living along the country’s Pacific coast to withdraw up to 0.62 miles away from the shore, according to Reuters after a magnitude 7 earthquake off the coast.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned that tsunami waves of up to 3 feet could hit the coasts of Nicaragua and El Salvador, but the threat has since passed.
The region is also facing a hurricane threat as Category 2 Hurricane Otto made landfall on El Salvador.
