Trump national security pick’s online accounts go dark
President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be his deputy national security adviser’s social media accounts and personal website have gone dark.
K.T. McFarland took down her private and public Facebook and Twitter accounts at some point during the last week, CNN reported Saturday.
Her website also appears to be no longer operational and currently displays a generic “coming soon” page with no other information.
Administration officials typically work to limit their personal presence online, though the personal Twitter account for Trump’s pick for national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, appeared to still be active Saturday.
McFarland has been a frequent commentator on social media, and has been a national security analyst for Fox News since 2010. She also hosted her own online news program called “Defcon3.”
Trump announced McFarland’s new role in his administration last month, praising her “tremendous experience and innate talent.” She was a close advisor during the campaign, assisting on national security issues.
McFarland, who served in posts under Presidents Nixon, Ford and Reagan, previously ran for Senate in New York in 2006.
“She has tremendous experience and innate talent that will complement the fantastic team we are assembling, which is crucial because nothing is more important than keeping our people safe,” Trump said in his statement last month.
