Report: Perry to announce future plans on Monday

{mosads}Perry is sending out invitations to close friends and supporters saying he “will be making an announcement around mid-day in San Antonio concerning his exciting future plans,” according to CNN on Tuesday.

“Please join his family and closest friends on July 8th,” the email says.

Perry had planned to announce his plans this week, according to CNN, but because state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) filibustered an abortion bill in the state legislature, Perry was forced to call a special session to try to pass the bill again, pushing back his announcement plans.

After Perry dropped out of the 2012 presidential race, he suggested that he might run again in 2016.

Recent polling has also shown Perry with strong favorability among Texans. A Public Policing Polling survey released Tuesday found Perry leading a number of top potential gubernatorial candidates. The poll also found 81 percent of Texas voters approve of Perry while just 16 percent disapprove. But just 30 percent said Perry should seek a fourth term.

Perry’s former chief of staff, Ray Sullivan, said he had no idea whether he would run for reelection or not.

“I don’t think anyone knows what he is going to do until he gets up there and says it,” Sullivan said to CNN.
